Dermatology is a key area of clinical work in primary practice, and the role that nurses can play in assisting with management of dermatological conditions has historically been overlooked
    .

Nurses can and should play an integral role in history taking, diagnostics, client support, improving adherence to treatment – and much more.

This course aims to offer guidance on setting up a Dermatology Nursing Clinic, including tackling any pitfalls which may arise. Through tutor guidance, peer support and shared experiences you will become more equipped to develop the clinic within your own practice environment and around your own clinic style.

This type of clinic requires knowledge of a number of simple diagnostic skills and microscopy, and this course aims to assist you with becoming more confident on how to perform these, the equipment to use and when to select which tests. This course will also look at clarifying the role nurses can play in selection and administration of therapies to help achieve case resolution.

This course will help you feel more confident in performing dermatology nursing generally, have an understanding of the nurse’s role in a vet-led team, and the delivery of a dermatology clinic service; and aims to be valuable whether you are just starting in dermatology nursing or developing an already existing service.
