CPD Solutions is delighted to announce that its PgCert in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery, validated by the University of Lancashire, is now recognised as an eligible postgraduate qualification for vets progressing towards RCVS Advanced Practitioner status in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery.

The recognition gives vets completing the 12-month PgCert a clear route to build on their postgraduate training and, subject to meeting the RCVS’s wider eligibility requirements, apply for Advanced Practitioner status.

The PgCert was developed specifically for vets who want to advance their skills in soft tissue surgery without undertaking a programme containing a significant orthopaedic component.

Combining postgraduate study with nine full days of hands-on practical training, the programme covers abdominal, perineal and urogenital surgery, alongside head, neck and thoracic procedures.
Dr Susie Coughlan, Founder and Managing Director at CPD Solutions, said:
“We developed this PgCert because we knew there were vets who wanted to progress their surgical skills specifically in soft tissue surgery, so we’re really pleased that it now provides a recognised route towards RCVS Advanced Practitioner status.

“For us, postgraduate training should be about more than gaining a qualification. We want vets to develop practical skills and confidence that make a real difference to their everyday caseload, while also giving them a clear pathway to keep progressing professionally.”

Completion of the PgCert does not automatically confer Advanced Practitioner status. Veterinary surgeons must apply separately to the RCVS and meet its full eligibility criteria.

The next CPD Solutions PgCert in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery begins in March 2027.
