Three members of staff at a popular Eastbourne veterinary practice have taken on two charity challenges to raise money for a cause that is close to their hearts.

Registered veterinary nurse Menna Field from Linnaeus-owned St Anne’s Veterinary Group has just successfully completed the Big Winter Roam for Cats Protection.

Meanwhile, lead veterinary nurse Abigail Lloyd and patient care assistant Jenny O’Neill are running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in April, also for the same cause and the target for all three is to raise a total of £750.

Menna, who walked 15 miles as part of the Cat’s Protection Big Winter Roam, said: “I’ve worked with Cats Protection throughout my 20-year career at St Anne’s and they’re a great charity that have helped us with the many strays we’ve had in.

“However, the rate of stray cats coming into our care has increased over the past couple of years, so we wanted to raise awareness of this and help support Cats Protection who have always provided rehoming spots where they have been able to.”

Abigail added: “The half marathon has provided us with a challenge we’ve always wanted to achieve. As well as our training, we’re hoping our positive mindset, along with our humour will get us through to the finish line.”

Jenny, who took on the role of caring for stray animals at St Anne’s, said: “I’m always pushing my comfort zone and this half marathon will be one to tick off the bucket list.”
