ID:	55989 Having become the first pet insurer in the UK to become carbon neutral earlier this year, Agria Pet Insurance will have a distinctly sustainable theme at London Vet Show 2021. As well as welcoming delegates to find out more about lifetime policies and unique dental cover from their sustainable stand, the lifetime pet insurer is also sponsoring a keynote environmental speech at the event.

‘Polar Thinking’ sees Dr Tamsin Edwards explain how climate science works, how to deal with polarisation and tackle the question of how human beings can make sense of a complex and uncertain future. Dr Edwards tells the real, more nuanced story of climate science, which contains opposites, uncertainties and shades of grey; a personal journey into the science and life of a scientist.

Fitting to the specialist insurer’s caring ethos, the Agria Pet Insurance stand will also host a revolutionary new tool in animal welfare, the Animal Welfare Assessment Grid (AWAG), presented by PhD student Rachel Malkani and Professor Sarah Wolfensohn.

Supported by a research fund from Agria, the AWAG is online software designed to objectively assess and monitor animals' welfare and cumulative lifetime experience. It is currently available for use in dogs, cattle, horses, and a range of zoo species for clinicians and animal welfare professionals, allowing welfare to be tracked and monitored over time to assess the impact of treatments and other events in an animal's life. It also provides a visual representation of welfare, which is extremely useful when discussing quality of life with owners.

Nick White, Head of Veterinary at Agria, says, “The London Vet Show is one of the most important events in our calendar, and we’re so pleased to see its return this year. Becoming the UK’s first carbon neutral pet insurer is a position we are continually looking to build upon, so supporting Dr Edwards’ keynote speech is a real honour. We’re also delighted to support the AWAG. Animal welfare is always at the forefront of our minds, and software that can show an accurate picture of welfare to help with decision-making will be revolutionary for the veterinary industry.”

On the Agria stand, delegates can also take part in a giant version of ‘Operation’, with the most speedy and skillful surgeon from each of the two days winning a fantastic P6 LED Piezo Ultrasonic Scaler. For existing veterinary partners of Agria, visit agriapet.co.uk/LVSPR2 for a chance to win £200, or for more information on becoming an Agria partner, visit agriapet.co.uk/LVSPR1 to learn about the benefits.

The specialist vet team from Agria Pet Insurance, plus the AWAG experts, will be on stand G50 at the London Vet Show, 11-12 November, London’s ExCeL.
