Since their inception 10 years ago, Vetsure have been offering market-leading purchase savings to all practice types through their Buysure for Vets and Buysure Platinum buying groups. Until recently, however, their Platinum offering – whereby members benefit from corporate terms in return for use of preferred products – has been limited to small animal practices. That has all changed now with the launch of the LA/Equine Buysure Platinum Group.

“There is considerable disruption and changes afoot in the LA and equine marketplace – as, has been the case over the last few years in the small animal sector. Acquisition of other buying groups by corporate entities and resistance towards joining costly alternative LA groups has led to demand for a new alternative”, explains Ashley Gray, MD of Vetsure.

Whilst savings are available across a wide range of products, Buysure have negotiated exceptional discounts with preferred suppliers in categories core to the purchasing of farm and equine practices. It is this involvement in buying behaviour of members that sets the Platinum model apart.

“We understand that LA practices are not able to fully commit to our preferred products in the same way as SA practices. For example, farmer pressure, seasonality of demand, product availability and local variations in disease prevalence make considerations more tricky” explains Ashley. “The Group that is developing, however, is already demonstrating commitment and loyalty to finding new ways of working with our preferred suppliers and products – as a result, we have been able to command market leading savings.”

A core group of ‘early adopter’ farm animal and equine members of the new Group will be meeting in September at the first LA Buysure Think Tank – here the visions of the Group will be shared and further developments to the ‘preferred product’ strategy discussed.

“It’s an exciting time, and it has been really encouraging to see so many practices immediately commit to the visions of the Group and an understanding of the need for collaboration – those involved from the start will clearly have a very important role in shaping how we operate and the suppliers we choose moving forward.”
