In line with its vision of offering clients ‘complete care’ for their pets, CVS has unveiled MiPet Cover, a range of premium insurance products for dogs and cats which was launched to clients in its small animal surgeries and online the UK during August 2017. MiPet Cover offers a comprehensive suite of insurance solutions for dogs and cats, including the premium ‘lifetime’ care offer.

MiPet Cover has been developed using feedback from CVS vets and veterinary team members who deal with insurance claims on a daily basis. CVS says its products will offer a new level of transparency to owners, including policy documents which are clear, concise and free of ‘legalese’. As the first insurance range to be integrated directly into a practice management system, it also offers benefits to the veterinary team by speeding up the time taken to provide quotes and to introduce and activate policies.

CVS, one of the UK’s the fastest growing corporate groups, has more than 420 surgeries as of August 2017. The company employed Simon Morrall (pictured above), an insurance professional with more than 10 years’ experience, in December 2015, to create its bespoke range of pet insurance products. As part of the development work, Mr Morrall held workshops with CVS teams and interviewed CVS customers, insurance experts and other stakeholders. He says he used the findings of his research to ensure that the MiPet Cover range would offer enhanced convenience and peace of mind to owners and support CVS’ veterinary teams in building client loyalty.

He explained: “As the UK’s largest provider of veterinary services, we knew that some owners experienced frustrations with insurance and we challenged ourselves to eliminate these problems with the development of MiPet Cover.

“The more research we did, the more we realised that there was an opportunity for us to go one better and to draw on the extensive experience of our veterinary teams to produce an insurance solution built on transparency, choice and efficiency, which would give our clients access to the very best treatment when they needed it.

“With the launch of MiPet Cover, I believe that’s what we’ve done. It has been received positively by our teams across the country and we are excited about the potential it has to help both our clients and our veterinary teams. Launching MiPet Cover is exciting - but it is just the start.”

Simon Innes, Chief Executive at CVS, added: "Our Healthy Pet Club already helps our veterinary teams to keep more than 300,000 pets healthy across the UK so that our clients can enjoy their relationship with them for as long as possible. With the addition of MiPet Cover, we now offer a comprehensive range of services to support the care of pets throughout their lifetime, including in the unfortunate event of accident or illness.

“We also hope that the clarity and cost-effectiveness of the MiPet Cover policies we have developed may encourage some of the 75%* of pet owners who have so far been reluctant to take out insurance for their pets to start to benefit from the peace of mind it can offer them.”

Key to its success is CVS' ability to attract ambitious veterinary staff and to invest in their clinical skills, knowledge and in research to drive the profession forward. It also provides the business support to ensure its diverse range of small animal, large animal and equine practices achieve their full potential. CVS' guiding principles include a commitment to excellence in all aspects of its work and a focus on building long-term relationships with its customers and suppliers. The company works in close partnership with the wider veterinary profession and industry colleagues.
