Dr Janet Kovak McClaran appointed to industry ‘bible’s editorial board

The American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) has appointed Dr Janet Kovak McClaran DVM, DACVS, DECVS, MRCVS, head of surgery at London Vet Specialists (LVS), to the editorial review board of its world-renowned Veterinary Surgery journal. This is a prestigious appointment, reflecting Dr McClaran's leadership in the field of veterinary surgery over the course of the last two decades.

After 17 years as head of surgery at the New York Animal Medical Center in New York City, one of the largest and busiest veterinary hospitals in the world, Dr McClaran joined LVS in Belsize Village, London in 2015 to help establish London’s first emergency animal hospital. She is experienced in a variety of areas of surgery, including soft tissue surgery.

Veterinary Surgery is read by millions of board-certified professionals worldwide, and sets the agenda in the industry. As the official journal of the ACVS, the European College of Veterinary Surgeons, and the Veterinary Endoscopy Society, it has professional resonance worldwide.

As well as being an active member of the Veterinary Endoscopy Society and the Veterinary Soft Tissue Society, Dr McClaran serves on the ACVS Foundation Board, is an Advisor of the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and a member of the Veterinary Society of Surgical Oncology. She speaks nationally and internationally on minimally invasive surgery at conferences and academic meetings, as well as publishing widely in the subject in journals and textbooks.
