So what has a great, big, household brand like John Lewis got to teach us? Might their understanding of consumer behaviour be useful to small businesses too…?

Today’s news tells us that John Lewis has grown sales by a whopping 19%… and that they put this achievement down to their success in the booming online sector.

In fact 1/3 of all John Lewis sales now takes place online.

Wow.

So, what does this mean for the average practice?

Clearly, the pet owners who walk through your doors are consumers too and whether or not they shop in John Lewis, they are increasingly online. In fact, people everywhere are living their lives online including activities such as networking, education, soliciting opinions, researching, evaluating, socialising as well as to spending an ever-increasing amount of their hard-earned cash via the internet.

The no-brainer is that every one of those activities represents an opportunity for vets to become more involved with pet owners*; to develop relationships, educate and inform - and grow business!

With social media now an established part of practice marketing plans, taking the next step is easy: List your services on vetmart; all of them.

Online directories are useful but vetmart is so much more…

On vetmart you can list health plans, acupuncture services, grooming, behaviour, boarding, to name but a few …and our viewing figures show us that people are much more interested in looking for veterinary specific services than the nearest vet practice to their home. Our own data shows that for those practices with practice listing AND a Cat Friendly listing for example, the Cat Friendly one receives an average 42% more views!

Our online visitors are more interested in fact, in ALL the services vets offer …so make sure you add your full range to beef up your online presence and drive traffic back to your own website.

If you’re feeling really brave and want to follow John Lewis’ success why not add a few products too? It’s easy but if you’re not sure then please contact me direct - caroline@vetmart.net and we’ll show you how to grow business and get more clients through your door. Happily.
