Wedgewood Names Dr. Rae Hutchins as Chief Veterinary Officer
Wedgewood, the nation’s largest provider of compounded veterinary medications and pharmacy solutions, proudly announces Dr. Rae Hutchins, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM), as its inaugural Chief Veterinary Officer. This milestone appointment highlights Wedgewood’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with veterinarians and advancing the standard of care in veterinary medicine.
“Dr. Hutchins is an exceptional leader whose expertise and dedication to veterinary care will shape the future of Wedgewood,” said Wedgewood CEO Alejandro Bernal, DVM. “As our first-ever Chief Veterinary Officer, her leadership will be instrumental in ensuring we remain the trusted partner veterinarians turn to for innovative solutions and unparalleled support.”
Dr. Hutchins brings a wealth of experience to this role, having served as Chief Clinical Officer at United Veterinary Care, Group Vice President at VCA, and Medical Director of a multi-specialty hospital. She is also a passionate advocate for pets in need, serving on the Board of Directors for Waggle, a nonprofit that supports veterinary care for animals facing financial hardship.
“I am honored to join Wedgewood at such a pivotal time in its growth and innovation,” said Dr. Hutchins. “As the company’s first Chief Veterinary Officer, I am eager to lead efforts that will redefine how we support veterinarians and their patients. By collaborating with our talented teams and dedicated partners, we have an extraordinary opportunity to deliver solutions that not only meet the challenges of today but set new benchmarks for excellence in veterinary care. Together, we will ensure Wedgewood remains the go-to partner for veterinarians striving to provide the highest level of care.”
Dr. Hutchins will officially begin her role on January 27, 2025, at VMX, the industry’s largest veterinary trade show. She will work closely with teams across the organization to elevate standards of care and ensure veterinarians have the tools they need to deliver the best outcomes for their patients.
