IVC Evidensia’s Farm Animal Advisory Board (FAAB), created in 2018, is integral to the group’s strategy for the continued development of their farm practices.

Headed up by Owain Jenkins BSc, BVSc, DBR, MRCVS, the board is responsible for ensuring the business continues to focus on recruiting and retaining top farm vets, making sure the service provision exceeds client’s expectations. As a group, IVC Evidensia Farm are responsible for 12% of the UK’s dairy herd.

They are delighted to announce the appointment of Colin Buchan BVMS CertAVP MRCVS to the position of FAAB Vice-Chair.

Colin is a clinical director at Avondale Veterinary Group, Strathaven, South Lanarkshire. After graduating from Glasgow Vet School in 2006, Colin worked in mixed practice before returning to Scotland to advance his interest in farm work. Colin achieved a certificate in advanced veterinary practice in 2019 and in the same year won the title of Dairy Vet of The Year at the Dairy Industry Cream Awards. His particular areas of interest are young stock management, lameness prevention and mastitis control.

Colin said,

“Having recently joined the Farm Animal Advisory Board I was excited to see the IVC Evidensia strategy for farm practice developing. The working groups contain some passionate and knowledgeable farm vets from the across the country, as well as input from our partners in the Netherlands.

He went on to say,

“I have found IVC Evidensia to be very people orientated from top to bottom and this sits well with my ethos. I am looking forwards to working closely with Owain Jenkins (current Chair) and David Stockton (Group Veterinary Advisor), as well as the rest of the Farm Animal Advisory Board to develop the farm side of the business with a focus on recruitment/retention, marketing and service provision. It is clear to me that IVC Evidensia are serious about supporting UK agriculture, and the veterinary practice intrinsically linked to farming. I am very honoured to have been appointed to Vice Chair and will embrace the challenges ahead.”

Owain Jenkins said,

“Colin brings a lot of energy, enthusiasm and great communication skills to the FAAB and this will help to advance the Board’s role in providing support to our ever-growing network of practices that provide Farm Animal services within IVC Evidensia.”
