The International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) has announced that it is making its webinar channel free to access for all veterinary professionals during the COVID-19 crisis.

Normally only accessible by ISFM members, the channel has been opened up as a free resource to help veterinary professionals keep on top of CPD and includes over 40 webinars presented by internationally recognised veterinary specialists.

Topics include; anaesthesia and analgesia, behaviour, emergency and critical care, feline medicine and neurology amongst others. Each webinar provides 1-hour CPD and a certificate is available to download.

The channel also includes a brand-new webinar on ‘COVID-19 – helping cats cope’ recorded by feline behaviourist Lucy Hoile which looks at how we can advise owners to help their cats deal with changes at home.

ISFM’s Feline Medicine Consultant, Sam Taylor commented: ‘ISFM is committed to educating veterinary professionals on all things feline, so we are delighted to be able to bring some of our normally member-only benefits to a wider audience during this challenging time’.

Veterinary surgeons and nurses are invited to register for the ISFM webinar channel via https://icatcare.org/event/isfm-vet-webinars/

ISFM’s parent charity, International Cat Care has also released a free webinar for cat owners entitled ‘COVID-19 - meeting your cat’s needs’ presented by world-renowned cat behaviour counsellor Vicky Halls.

Vicky commented: ‘Changes in household routines and adults and children spending more time at home can make this a stressful time for our pet cats. However, there are a lot of simple things which we can do as cat owners to help them cope, and I will give you lots of tips during the presentation on how to achieve this’.

This free webinar looks at how owners can adapt their home and routine to minimise stress to their cat, how to work from home with a cat and how to involve your children in making and playing games with your cat. Vicky will also cover some commonly asked questions about the COVID-19 virus and its impact on cats.
