CPD Solutions has added to its suite of practical PgCerts with its latest new subject- Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging. This highly practical programme starts in March 2020 and enables veterinary surgeons to gain their Diagnostic Imaging PgCert in a 12 month period. PgCerts are awarded by the University of Chester, leaders in the provision of work-based learning. The new PgCert in Diagnostic Imaging joins existing PgCerts from CPD Solutions in Small Animal Surgery, Emergency Practice and Small Animal Dentistry.
The new programme features ten full days of small group hands-on practical imaging sessions based at the recently upgraded CPD Solutions Training Centre in Studley near Birmingham. Vets will develop their existing imaging skills and learn additional techniques that they can use directly in small animal practice. Decision making is a major focus, as it is critical in the management of small animal patients on a daily basis. This new PgCert from CPD Solutions and the University of Chester complies fully with the RCVS focus on outcomes-based CPD and reflective learning.
The CPD Solutions series of PgCerts has unique benefits and key differences from the existing PgCert options available for vets. CPD Solutions programmes have a very strong emphasis on practical training. To make the most of the way that vets learn best, all attendance sessions are practical with no lecture days. Attendance days are grouped into just three sessions to minimise travel and disruption to work and home life. The 12 month duration of the CPD Solutions programme allows vets to gain their PgCert qualification in Diagnostic Imaging in a much shorter time frame than that allowed by PgCerts from other providers.
Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging is an exciting addition to the current range of PgCerts from CPD Solutions. Expert diagnostic imaging tutors will help vets to refine their techniques and interpretation in small group sessions, and vets can then use their new skills directly in their practices.
Susie Coughlan, veterinary surgeon and MD at CPD Solutions has 21 years’ experience in providing practical training for vets. ‘Our experience is that vets get the most out of hands-on practical training in a structured and supportive environment, combined with reflective application of their new skills in practice. The new PgCert in Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging follows the same format – all attendance sessions are practical, and the course provides support for developing reflective work based learning that vets can use with all of their patients.’
