The idyllic coastal town of Cavtat, Croatia became home to over 520 vets from 42 different countries who were attending the ISFM European Feline Congress for five days of feline-specific CPD from 26-30 June.

Taking place at a spectacular waterfront hotel, vets were treated to lectures from some of the world’s leading experts in feline infectious diseases. This included keynote speakers Mike Lappin, Jane Sykes, Séverine Tasker and Richard Malik, who delivered engaging, thought-provoking and often humorous talks on a range of weird and wonderful feline infectious diseases.

Also on offer were three in-depth masterclasses and five fascinating and varied sponsor-lead symposia. Running alongside this scientific programme was a busy commercial exhibition where delegates could find out about the latest products and services from leading suppliers, as well as a display of 21 posters showcasing original research.

The five days of intense and engaging CPD were balanced with plenty of opportunities to socialise and network with fellow attendees. This included the IVC Group and Evidensia Reception in the hotel’s funky 60s inspired nightclub, the ISFM/Hill’s welcome reception on Cavtat’s stunning waterfront and the Boehinger Ingelheim reception at one of the hotel’s beautiful terraces. Delegates also had Saturday afternoon off to explore the local area, which included optional tours to Dubrovnik and the Konavle vineyard.

Regular attendees of the Congress have come to expect great value CPD in an attractive setting with a friendly atmosphere, and this year’s event did not disappoint them. As one delegate put it: ‘It’s been another fantastic conference, with exceptional speakers yet again.’ As the Congress drew to a close another delegate lamented: ‘I'm getting a little bit sad knowing that if I blink my eyes twice, this fantastic Congress will be over...’

Such was the enthusiasm for the Congress, there have already been over 230 vets who have registered their interest for next year’s Congress taking place from 10–14 June, on the Greek island of Rhodes, with a scientific programme covering feline anaesthesia, analgesia and ethics, and feline emergency critical care. More information will be made available on http://icatcare.org/isfm-congress.

The Congress could not have taken place without the support of ISFM’s Congress Sponsors: founding partner Hill’s, platinum Congress partners Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, IDEXX Laboratories and Ceva.
