The grounds of Warwick University were the stunning setting for the inaugural IVC and Evidensia Graduate Academy Conference last week.

The keynote speaker on day one was the hugely impressive Miles Hilton-Barber who, despite being blind, proves that no matter who you are, anything is possible. He is a British adventurer who has, among lots of other adventures, flown from London to Sydney in a micro-light, climbed Mont Blanc and run across the Gobi dessert.

There were also trade stands from our main sponsors Idexx, MSD, BIAH, Vetoquinol and Dechra along with internal departments of IVC and Evidensia for the graduates to browse as well as networking with their peers.

The second day of the conference was a full day of CPD for the graduates including sessions on exotics, farm, internal medicine, neurology and oncology. Followed by a chance to let their hair down at and continue networking at the Graduation Dinner, where the 2017 graduates were presented with their certificates of completion. The night continued with some fantastic surprise entertainment and dancing the night away.

The final day of the conference was focused on demonstrating the many options available to them in their career with IVC and Evidensia, with inspirational stories from vets within the group about the journeys they have been on and the lessons they have learned. Dave Nicol BVMS Cert Mgmt MRCVS, one of the keynote speakers for the final day, spoke about how they could pull everything they had learned together in order to take control and enjoy their lives moving forward as veterinary surgeons, followed by practical tools, tips and techniques to help them be the best they could possibly be.

IVC Group Veterinary Advisor, Donald Kingsnorth BA VetMB MRCVS, who organised the clinical CPD sessions at the graduate conference said,
“We were thrilled how successful our first ever Graduate Academy Conference went.

“It was inspiring to have over 250 graduates come together from within IVC and Evidensia to enjoy three fantastic days of high quality CPD and networking with a feeling of togetherness as being part of the overall group.”

90 2nd year, 150 first year and 15 European graduates were in attendance at this successful inaugural conference. The intake for 2019 has surpassed expectations with 250 graduates in the UK and 80 in Europe working their way through the programme.
