On June 27th 2019 Andrew Draper BVMS MRCVS, head Vet at the Nottingham based Oak House Veterinary Centre, will set out with friends and colleagues on a 4 day cycle journey that will take them from South East London to Paris to raise funds for research aimed at finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

Brought together on the mission by their children, who all live with type 1 diabetes, Andrew will be joined on the ride by his wife Kate Draper BVMS MRCVS and co -director Oak House Veterinary Centre, and their 16yr old son Jack, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes completely out of the blue, just after his eighth birthday.

The family have taken up the cycle challenge to raise funds for JDRF to contribute to their ongoing research into a cure for type 1 diabetes. ‘Diabetes doesn’t give its victims and their families any time off and we are raising funds to help forward any improvements in the management of diabetes and eventually even a cure’ explained Andrew.

JDRF is an organisation that funds type 1 diabetes research and who’s global programme funds more than 500 active research projects around the world and supports more than 70 clinical trials at any one time. Internationally JDRF has funded £1.54 billion research to date and last year spent almost £72 million on research globally.
