Experts in nutrition, Royal Canin will be hosting a webinar on Tuesday 23rd July exploring pruritus; its causes and how to manage it.

Parasites, infections or allergic skin disease are all potential causes, requiring careful identification to ensure successful treatment. Sarah Warren (BVetMed MSc (Clin. Onc.) CertVD MRCVS) will be leading the webinar; Pruritus - Why blaming the food isn’t a solution but changing it might be! A key opinion leader, Sarah regularly presents regional and national dermatology meetings.

Sarah commented: “Many diseases that are primarily non-pruritic often become pruritic when the animal develops secondary bacterial or yeast infection. These cases require a thorough dermatologic history and physical examination and successful treatment very often depends on identification of the underlying cause.”

“Providing the right nutrition should also be implemented to ensure optimal levels of nutrients required for skin repair, barrier function and health. I will be including a complete pruritus work up, discussing how diet can be part of the management of this particular condition.”

Sarah Warren qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 1998, gained an MSc in Clinical Oncology in 2003, the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology in 2010 and RCVS Advanced Practitioner status in 2015. She previously ran two busy Dermatology Referral Services in the South of the UK. Sarah currently finds herself in the position as president of the British Veterinary Dermatology Study Group.

Sarah is also co-founder and Chief Veterinary Officer at Vet- AI – a research and development company working on ground-breaking artificial intelligence that aims the change the face of Veterinary care. They have just launched a pet- healthcare App called “Joji”.
