PetSavers, part of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA), has introduced a new series of canine-focused online, downloadable guides to provide pet owners with reliable additional advice if their dog has been diagnosed with a specific veterinary condition. The initiative is part of BSAVA’s commitment to promote excellence in small animal practice.

BSAVA President Sue Paterson said: “By signposting clients to extra downloadable advice or handing them a printed guide when they leave consultation room, we will hopefully reduce their temptation to run potentially misleading ‘Dr Google’ searches to find out more about the diagnosis.”

The new series of ‘My Dog’s Got’ guides provide accessible, practical information on a range of common topics:
• My dog does not like other dogs
• My dog has dental disease
• My dog has diabetes
• My dog has itchy skin
• My dog has kidney disease

They join the PetSavers existing library of general online guides on Puppies, Kittens, Rabbits, Guinea pigs, Caring for your elderly pet and Losing your pet.

Printed versions of the new guides can be ordered by veterinary practices in exchange for a donation to PetSavers, to make a valuable addition to veterinary reception areas.

PetSavers is a part of the BSAVA. Its mission is to fund vital clinical research into the prevention, treatment and/or cure of illnesses and conditions affecting pets, so that companion animals can enjoy longer, fuller and healthier lives.
