Referral vets from the leading referral centres in the South West came together on 7th March to provide a full day of CPD aimed at first opinion practices.

A total of 86 vets took part in the event, set at the magnificent De Vere Tortworth Court Hotel in Gloucestershire. The study day involved presentation lectures in the morning, and round table learning in the afternoon. Delegates were also given a Top Tips Handbook to take away after the event for ongoing support.

18 Referral Vet speakers from Bath, Rowe and Vale Referrals delivered talks on a range of topics including ophthalmology, soft tissue surgery, cardiology, orthopaedics, internal medicine, oncology, analgesia and dermatology. The programme also included a fun post-lunch energiser activity, with a demonstration of the motivational and unifying Haka ceremonial dance.

The study day was designed to help vets build confidence and knowledge around the decision to refer. Chris Trickey, Group Veterinary Advisor for IVC Referrals also highlighted the event was, “a great opportunity for referral and first opinion vets to build relationships.”
The study day was kindly supported by a number of sponsoring organisations: Ceva, Imotek, Kruuse, Burtons, Veterinary Instrumentation, TVM and MSD Animal Health, who all exhibited at the event.

Feedback following the event was excellent, many particularly valued the variety of topics relevant to first opinion practice, and one delegate commented the event was “way the best CPD I’ve attended.” 100% of attendees stated they would be likely to attend further IVC Development sessions.
