A record number of delegates attended for the two days of the VMG and SPVS Congress 2019, held at Celtic Manor, Newport from 24– 26 January 2019.

Congress was opened by Kate Richardson-Walsh, who led the GB Hockey Team to Gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Leadership and Culture proved to be a popular theme with packed lectures on this topic on the Friday. Delegates also enjoyed sessions on Customer Care and Communications and advice for those who are New to Management.

The popular exhibition was filled with over 80 sponsors and exhibitors.

The VMG Presidency will pass from Julie Beacham to Gillian Page. The outgoing President said:
‘We were particularly pleased with our New to Management stream where there was standing room only throughout the day. That, combined with the fact that we awarded six new CVPM certificates shows the value practices and individuals put on good in-depth management training.

Peter Brown handed over the SPVS Presidency to Catriona Curtis at Congress. He said he was delighted with both attendance numbers and the levels of engagement.
‘Every year the buzz around Congress, in the exhibition hall and lecture rooms seems to increase. This year our themes around strong leadership to create great teams really hit the mark.’
