    Ms Claire Dorey-Phillips

Veterinary CPD specialist Improve International has expanded its suite of training for veterinary nurses with the launch of a Dentistry Certificate (NCert) Dent and a series of one-day courses. The launch of the new courses for 2019 confirms Improve’s commitment to ensuring that veterinary nurses, as well as vets, benefit from its experience and track record in veterinary learning, following the appointment of former head nurse Ms Claire Dorey-Phillips BSc (Hons) VNPA RVN MBVNA in 2017 as Practical Course Coordinator and Nurse Programme Tutor.

The new NCert Dent, which is accredited by ESVPS, comprises six modules led by leading specialists Dr Gerhard Putter, Dr Richard Saunders and Dr Rachel Perry. Topics have been selected to support veterinary nurses in helping to develop dentistry within their practice and include canine and feline dental anatomy and function; canine and feline dental conditions and the canine and feline dental procedure. Improve will shortly launch two additional Nurse Certificates in Medicine and Surgery.

The new one-day courses cover ultrasound triage for the emergency patient, infection control, cardiology and Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD).

Commenting on the launch of the nurse courses, Ms Claire Dorey-Phillips said: “Veterinary nurses are ambitious to develop their skills so we want to offer them specific training which gives them access both to the latest thinking and to the world-class learning resources which are the hallmark of all of our veterinary programmes.

“The addition of our new Nurse Certificates and our one-day courses means that we will soon be providing a full complement of general training for nurses, as well as giving them the opportunity to study for a Certificate. We believe this training will enable them to take their veterinary nursing to the next level and equip them with knowledge that will help them to develop their careers in practice.”

The courses will be run at Improve’s training facility in Swindon. Further information can be found at: www.improveinternational.com.

One of the world’s leading veterinary training companies, Improve International was founded by a team of UK vets and has since trained more than 20,000 veterinary professionals in 20 countries around the world. In the delivery of its programmes, it works closely with its assessment partner, the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ESVPS), and with Harper Adams University, which provides the higher education body quality assurance.

Part of Benchmark and based in Swindon, Improve International provides high quality CPD in a range of formats for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses to help them to develop their skills and knowledge, using a combination of review lectures, case-based discussion and where, applicable, hands-on practical sessions.
