Virbac is delighted to announce that an extended duration of immunity has been granted by the European Medicines Agency for the feline leukaemia component of both Leucogen and Leucofeligen vaccines.

As a result of this extended duration of immunity, following the primary course and first annual booster, the FeLV component is only required every 3 years.Annual boosters against feline rhinotracheitis calicivirus and panleucopenia can be provided during the intermediate years with Feligen RCP.

This breakthrough is testament to Virbac’s continued commitment to innovation and demonstrates the quality of the Virbac vaccine range.
Leucogen is the world’s first recombinant subunit vaccine containing purified p45 FeLV-envelope antigen. Leucofeligen is a fully authorised combination vaccine for FeLV, rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and the feline panleucopaenia virus.

‘This is a great development for Leucogen and Leucofeligen’ said Tara Smith, Product Manager at Virbac UK. ‘We’re really excited to show practices the practical benefits that this extended duration of immunity offers, from improving the profitability of pet health plans to adapting the vaccine programme to suit the cat’s needs’.

To find out more about the benefits the Virbac vaccine range could offer your practice, please speak to your Virbac Territory Manager.

Virbac is a unique, global and family run company dedicated exclusively to animal health for 50 years. Virbac offers a wide portfolio of innovative and award winning products that combine quality, effectiveness and convenience for veterinary surgeons, nurses and pet owners alike.
