FECAVA has opened nominations for the new Didier-Carlotti award which recognises outstanding service in the fields of inter-professional communication and/or continuing education for companion animal veterinarians in Europe.
BSAVA members have until 21st June 2017 to submit a 200 word nomination on a companion animal veterinarian, outlining why the nominee would be a worthy recipient of the award. Once judging by the awards committee is complete, the winner will be notified a month later and invited to collect their award from FECAVA EuroCongress which is taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark from 25th – 28th September 2017.
This new award, which will be presented annually at the FECAVA EuroCongress, is named after the veterinary surgeon who initiated, planned and inspired FECAVA and who served as its first President for four years. Didier Carlotti had the vision to form a pan-European organisation for Companion Animal Veterinarians to enhance the communication between, and the education of veterinarians in all parts of Europe. His vision resulted in the creation of FECAVA in Bienne (Biel) in Switzerland in 1990.
Nominees need to be FECAVA members (BSAVA members can join FECAVA for free) and veterinarians working in the field of companion animal veterinary medicine. Individuals submitting nominations do not need to be FECAVA members however, they do need to be BSAVA members.
FECAVA will pay for the winner’s economy class European travel expenses, standard hotel accommodation and the recipient will have free access to the EuroCongress Trade Exhibition and to the Opening Ceremony of the EuroCongress. If a successful candidate cannot attend, he or she can be represented by his or her national FECAVA Director or by another nominated person who is attending the EuroCongress (however no travel or other expenses will be paid).
