For the past year, veterinary practices all over the UK have been working hard to accumulate as many 4* and 5* reviews from their clients as possible on www.VetHelpDirect.com and www.Any-UK-Vet.co.uk. At last, the wait is finally over and this year’s Best UK Vets 2017 overall winner is Penmellyn Vets, St Columb Major based in Cornwall!

This is a well-deserved win for Penmellyn Vets, who stormed to victory with an impressive lead of over 200 more qualifying reviews than their nearest rival, securing the highly coveted Best UK Vets 2017. Philip Harris, one of the partners at Penmellyn Vets said, “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award and want to say thank you to each and every one of our clients who took the time to leave a review. And my thanks to the Penmellyn staff for their hard work and commitment to providing the outstanding customer service that has been recognised by this award. I couldn’t be more proud of them. We’re an independent practice and very traditional in many ways, so I think as we’ve grown as a group, with a goal of excellence always in patient care, our values have kept us grounded and very client-centric. We look forward to celebrating the award with our team at the awards ceremony in the coming weeks.”

The winners received a staggering 839 votes that easily secured their victory, reflecting the tremendous level of engagement that they have with their clients. This was reflected in the reviews left which include sentiments such as “Lovely caring friendly staff… brilliant high standards of care provided.”; “I have used this practice for all my pets over the years and always found them to be treated with utmost compassion and respect!” and “Excellent friendly attitude…our pet had been in for few days… he was looked after extremely well. We were able to call and check on his progress. Nothing is or was too much trouble. The after care and follow up appointments are excellent. Very happy with treatment and care received and definitely I would recommend Penmellyn.”

Penmellyn Vets have a lot to be proud of, as not only did their small animal team at the veterinary hospital in St Columb Major receive the top award but five of their other practices, including St Austell, Pool, Bodmin, Newquay, St Columb Major (Equine), were also featured in this year’s Best UK Vets Top 25 practices. The Equine team at St Columb Major also went on to win the award for this year’s Best Equine Vet.

Penmellyn Vets is an independent practice owned by six veterinary surgeons, who are all based in Cornwall. They have been providing veterinary care to the pets and horses of Cornwall for over 130 years. They still cover their own out of hours’ care and their services include preventative healthcare packages for their cat and dog-owning clients, ‘LifeCare’ and ‘LifeCare+’. The latter grants clients access to unlimited vet and nurse consultations 6 days a week – something that is currently only offered by Penmellyn Vets in Cornwall.

Blacks Vets in Dudley, who were the proud winners of Best UK Vet 2015 and 2016, continue to impress and were awarded the Silver award after receiving a very commendable 620 qualifying client reviews. These included “Well done to all the staff, you all do an amazing job. Always impressed by the extra mile you all go when it comes my pet, thank you for the last 5 years service.” Despite being pipped to first place this year, Tracey Jewkes, Managing Director, said “We are delighted to have been awarded Silver in the Best UK Vet 2017 Award and would like to take this opportunity to send a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful clients for voting for us again this year. Our consistency at the top of this award for the past 3 years is a reflection of both the calibre and heart Team Blacks give to pets, clients and each other year after year. We could not be more proud of each and every team member here, nor could we feel more privileged to take great care of so many much loved pets in our local community.”

Further success was achieved by the Surgeries based in Lye, Oldbury, Sedgbury and Quinton, who all featured in the top half of this year’s Best UK Vets Top 25 practices.

The Best UK Vets category awards acknowledge those practices who provide an exceptional service for their clients, but who may not cover as large an area or have as large client base to accrue reviews from. To be eligible for a category award, the practice must be in the Top 25 list or have over 52 reviews (i.e. an average of 1 per week over a year).
This year’s winners of the small category awards are as follows:

· Best Scottish Vet 2017 – Inglis Vets, Dunfermline Hospital
· Best Small Practice 2017 – Heathside Vets
· Best Equine Vet 2017 – Penmellyn Equine
· Best Mobile Vet 2017 – Stourbridge Vets 2 You

Heathside Vets, based in Southampton won the prestigious award of Best Small Practice 2017 after receiving so many happy client reviews; one client said “What can I say…just possibly the best vets I've ever been to. I know that my pet is going to have (and has had) the best care ever - thank you.” Upon hearing the good news Danielle Giles, practice manager of Heathside Vets, said “I’m over-the-moon and so excited” she went on to say “It was all down to the hard work, dedication and devotion of all our vets, nurses and reception staff. We couldn’t have done it without the devotion and loyalty of our clients and pets.”

The Best Mobile Vet 2017 went to Vets 2 You in Stourbridge, who are part of the St George’s Veterinary Group. They provide a mobile home visiting service for people who find it difficult to get their pets to the vets and for those pets that find attending the vets very stressful. This service has proved very popular and they received a winning number of reviews that included sentiments such as “What a lovely team they have at St George's. They are all extremely friendly and helpful and always offer good advice. The Vets 2 You service is just brilliant and I'm always confident they'll know exactly what to do for my dog.”

This is a fantastic achievement for all the winning practices and especially for this year’s Best UK Vets 2017 winner Penmellyn Vets in St Columb Major. The practice can look forward to enjoying a celebratory party and a bask in the limelight thanks to the PR support that they will receive as part of their prize.
