Tina Wright of Warbreck Veterinary centre, Merseyside who was named Vet Nurse of the Year

The Veterinary Practice Management Association (VPMA) has once again joined the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) in calling for nominations for managers and nurses to the Petplan Veterinary Awards which take place in April 2015. Following their appeal last year there was a rise in nominations for both nurses and managers and the association presidents were keen to build on that momentum. In a reciprocal arrangement, BVNA is calling upon its members to nominate their practice managers, and VPMA is calling for nurse nominations.

VPMA president Helen Sanderson emphasised just how simple it was to nominate someone, “You don’t need to produce a long, detailed testimonial, although obviously the more information you can give to support your nomination, the more the judges have to go on. But a heart-felt simple paragraph or two entered online is absolutely fine, outlining why your nurse deserves the award. If you’ve 10 minutes to spare, this is a fantastic way to boost your staff morale and just say thanks for their efforts.”

New BVNA president Fiona Andrew echoed this saying, “Veterinary nurses and practice managers are often forgotten when it comes to nominations, particularly those from clients, who don’t realise the awards include these categories. So we’d like as many nurses and managers as possible to get involved and submit nominations for each other. Every nominee receives a certificate that they can display in the practice, and it’s a great way to highlight to the public the vital role played by both these staff members.”

All nominations are anonymous and can be done online quickly and easily by visiting https://www.petplanvet.co.uk/veterin...rinary-awards/. The deadline for nominations is the 16th January 2015.

The Petplan Veterinary Awards are often referred to as the 'Oscars' of the veterinary industry. The 2015 event takes place in April in Birmingham and recognises those who inspire their clients and colleagues with their hard work and dedication.
In addition to the accolade of being recognised in front of their peers, practices find many benefits to being involved in the Veterinary Awards including increased practice footfall, more engaged clients and a more motivated team.
